Indigo Friends – a collective creativity platform focused on the denim industry – is launching a pop-up studio at slow-denim brand Story MFG’s headquarters on London’s Hackney Road.
Using selvedge, vegan and organic denim fabrics from progressive Turkish mill Orta, the studio will feature a small, unisex collection of products for sale alongside raw denim fabric (available by the metre), with information on how to create different washes and laundries. Orta’s vegan denim fabric is the first ever to be produced exclusively with vegetable and natural dyestuffs on an industrial scale.
Indigo Friends aims to encourage artisanship, technological innovation and sustainability within the denim industry. The collective will appear at global creativity hubs – through a schedule of pop-up studios and workshops – to share passion, heritage and knowledge engendering collaboration in design, manufacture and broader co-thinking.
The pop-up studio event runs from May 19-28 at Story MFG Studio, 188 Hackney Road, London E2 7QL from 11am to 5.30pm on weekdays and 11am to 6.30pm on weekends. For more on Story MFG and the brand’s indigo-dye workshops, go to @storymfg.
